Subject: Re: Microsoft Outlook 2010 - RIM Functionality / Requirements

Shanna,

We're using Outlook 2010 and after looking at several 3rd party apps to help us better manage email, we've taken the "big bucket" approach using seven (7) managed folders. As a small company it's worked great for us (we've reduced our email stores by almost 50% from 1TB since we rolled this program out last October 1st), and most of us have gotten through the learning curve (pains). While I wouldn't necessarily call it "RIM functionality," there are a number of Outlook wizards, tips, and best practices that make this approach more effective and a little easier to swallow, but the bottom line is that the user must still take the time to review their Inbox and other Outlook folders--it's not automatic.

We're on a rolling 120-day auto delete action, so while there is some cushion there, we're encouraging our users to manage that email when it first comes in. We also perform periodic and random "audits" which we see as opportunities to educate users on using the appropriate managed folder for storing their emails, so that everything doesn't end up in the PERM bucket.

Good luck.

Thanks.
Earl

Subject: Microsoft Outlook 2010 - RIM Functionality / Requirements

My company is currently in the process of documenting requirements of Microsoft Outlook 2010 and I want to ensure we are including any RIM functionality the software offers. I am currently doing research on this software and thought I would pose the question out to the group to see if anyone has implemented Outlook 2010 and what RIM functionality they are using from the software?

Thanks,

Shanna G. Jones, ECMp
