Dear Colleagues,

I trust this e-mail finds you well! You are receiving this e-mail because I would like to cordially invite you to consider contributing your expertise to a forthcoming book edited by me (Dr. Bwalya Kelvin Joseph - University of Botswana) entitled Technology Development and Platform Enhancements for Successful Global E-Government Design.

As you may know, E-Government research is now taking its full toll on many governments in the world. The majority of research is currently focused on a general understanding of the supply and demand aspects of e-Government. This has resulted in a lack of available information regarding the best practices of e-Government implementation and design from the technological front. Regarding the supply side, there is a dearth of information regarding the actual technology specifics aligned to the unique inherent local characteristics where e-Government is implemented. For example, only the recent works (on-going) of the OASIS e-Government Technical Committee have put up concerted efforts in developing interoperability platforms that can bring about integration of e-Government applications.

This book therefore intends to unearth the different technological nuances that need to be incorporated into successful e-Government designs. It intends to provide a platform for e-Government designers and practitioners to share their experiences with emphasis on technological design and how to map technology to the unique characteristics of systems where e-Government is to be implemented. The book will, therefore, bring out cases which will complement the work of international committees such OASIS towards achieving a common interoperable technology solution for e-Government design regardless of whether it is implemented in a developed or resource-constrained economy.

The overall objective of this book is to provide a platform for researchers, designers, and practitioners to share experiences in technology design of e-Government platforms. This will also showcase the heterogeneous technology solutions implemented in different parts of the world in the realm of e-Government.

Specific objectives include the following:

1) To help e-Government designers understand what technology platforms are likely to work given their context and

2) To provide a reference source for both researchers and academics concerning current and emerging research trends in technology designs of e-Government applications.

Given the aforementioned objectives, I would like to invite you to contribute a chapter on the major topic of this book. However, please know that your contribution would not be limited to that topic; should you be so inclined, please feel free to write your chapter on any of the other following topics instead:

- E-Government Man-Machine interfaces

- E-Government Open-Source systems

- E-Government user-interface design frameworks and models

- Seamless process integration in e-Government environments

- E-Government technological platforms

- Interoperability frameworks and semantic interoperability

- Ontologies for e-Government applications

- Electronic archival systems

- E-Government database components

- E-Government technological divide

- E-Government technological convergence

- E-Government vendor systems and their deployment

- Case studies for e-Government technology deployment

- E-Procurement systems

- Virtual reality of e-Government platforms

- Semantic e-Government information retrieval and analysis

Should you accept this invitation, I would like to kindly ask that, on or before September 30, 2012, you submit via e-mail a 2-3 page chapter proposal for review that clearly explains the mission and concern of your proposed chapter. Should your proposal be accepted, you will be notified by Octobere 15, 2012, and given until January 30, 2013, to submit your chapter upon which it will be sent for double-blind peer review.

This book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), publisher of the ¡°Information Science Reference¡± (formerly Idea Group Reference), ¡°Medical Information Science Reference,¡± ¡°Business Science Reference,¡± and ¡°Engineering Science Reference¡± imprints.
