Ballot review shows no irregularities in 2010 council election results »
Local News
McRae said the county did not have enough lock boxes to store ballots from
a single election during the entire nearly two-year preservation period.
She cited the Election Code 66.058, which says that after 60 days from the
election, the election official may “unlock the ballot box and transfer the
voted ballots to another secure container for the remainder of the
preservation period. Except as permitted by this code, a ballot box or
other secure container containing voted ballots may not be opened during
the preservation period.”
