Recycled paper...
Pity, but people don't realized that this paper has a lot of chemicals inside in order to be useful for certain period of time.

You can show these people simple example - take a sheet of "normal" paper that you use for printing original of City's By-law (hopefully City Auditor would not put your name in its report about wasting of Taxpayers' money) and sheet of recycle paper, write or type some good wishes on both, and put them together close to the window for a weekend only. To make experiment clear, put security gard and seal the entry to the room.
I'm not surprise that only after two sunny days text on recycle paper will fade more than on normal one - you can simply show what's going on with paper during the time.

Next moment - few weeks ago was information that toilet paper made from recycled paper contains, let say it differently, not 100% of bacterias are killed during production recyclet toilet paper.

Another interesting experimet - ask lovers of recycled paper how many times we can fold sheet of paper  - recycled paper is not leader in this competition that also indicates about short life time period..

Regards,

Good afternoon all,

We are in the process of developing a city guide for appropriate paper to use for different types of documents. I am looking for any standards that apply to the use of paper for archival preservation and if there are any sources dealing with use of recycled paper. Archival issues are addressed, however there are a few staff that feel recycled paper is the ultimate and end all solution.

Any suggestions?

(Yes Steve, I know you hate paper, however sometimes you just have to give out copies, or need original signatures, or want to keep something longer than a floppy disc/memory stick/etc. will last)
