Back in the late 1990s there was a massive records center fire in Pa. Two companies sued the vendor. They were awarded damages not for the value of the records but rather for the cost of recreating the records that were lost. IIRC one of the plaintiffs was able to prove that the cost to recreate one box was over $10,000. so rather than insuring for the value you might consider insuring for the cost to recreate the records if lost. ah now the name comes to Diversified Records, in Pennsylvania http://cool.conservation-us.org/byform/mailing-lists/bap/1997/msg00039.html http://www.arma.org/news/index.cfm?NewsID=151 http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-122829594.html http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2004&dat=19970506&id=9r8iAAAAIBAJ&sjid=W7YFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1278,1500922 the plaintiff's attorneys gave a presentation at the ARMA Conference held in Boston. -- Peter Kurilecz CRM CA [log in to unmask] Richmond, Va http://twitter.com/RAINbyte http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAINbyte/ http://paper.li/RAINbyte/rainbyte http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/archives/ http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/records-management/ http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterakurilecz Information not relevant for my reply has been deleted to reduce the electronic footprint and to save the sanity of digest subscribers List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
