Interesting. I bought my first CD in 1990. It was a copy of "Who's Next". I found the sound quality flat. MP3s are even worse.
 
Although CDs are in decline many new album releases are pressed in vinyl. Cartridges for turntables (record players) are still made & are better than ever. Obviously not portable, but when I am home nothing, to me, beats the sound quality of records unless it's live music.
