This reply is definitely records related ...

The first CDs I bought were in the late '80s; Asleep at the Wheel, Benny
Goodman, Ricky Van Shelton, Buckwheat Zydeco, The Andrews Sisters, David
Allan Coe, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Merle Haggard, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, and
Ray Charles. I remember walking into the store thinking I would pick up a
couple to try out my new CD deck; and walked out about $125 poorer.

I still have 316 vinyl albums. And I do have equipment and a process to
digitize the music. I also still have a bunch of reel-to-reel tapes and
cassette tapes. I do not have 8-tracks any more; not sure what happened to
all those. Probably thrown out from my mother's house while I was overseas
in the military. She did not like Mitch Ryder, and thought Sly & Family
Stone sang sinful songs. CCR was OK by her.

The reel-to-reel tape player (TEAC A-4300) was zapped by a lightning strike
on June 4th, 1996 at Lake Norman in NC. Stripped the bark off one side of
the oak tree in the yard then arced into the basement of my house. It
welded the anti-surge protector into which I had the components plugged.
Ruined the TV, VHS player/recorder, the Teac, JVC receiver and tuner,
dolby unit, the CD player, and the Pioneer turntable. It did not hurt the
cassette player nor my Pioneer CS-99A speakers w/15" woofers and my pair of
Bose 501s. The tree lived.

I am playing hooky this afternoon; watching the Cardinals in the playoffs.
 Vaminos El Birdos!

(I hate paper...)
