Singapore Parliament Passes Personal Data Protection Act : : Privacy and Information Security Law Blog On October 15, 2012, the Singapore Parliament<http://www.parliament.gov.sg/>passed the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. Though a law has been under discussion<http://www.huntonprivacyblog.com/2011/10/articles/singapore-information-ministry-solicits-comments-on-proposed-data-privacy-framework/>for quite some time, this bill was introduced<http://www.parliament.gov.sg/sites/default/files/Personal%20Data%20Protection%20Bill%2024-2012.pdf>before Parliament only recently, in September of this year. The new law will apply only to data processing in the private sector as data processing by public agencies (or organizations acting on behalf of public agencies) are already subject to internal government rules. Reportedly, the bill will become law in January 2013, enforceable after 18 months, in mid-2014. http://bit.ly/WnPQsL Source: http://www.huntonprivacyblog.com/2012/10/articles/singapore-parliament-passes-personal-data-protection-act/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+PrivacyInformationSecurityLawBlog+(Privacy+%26+Information+Security+Law+Blog) See if people are clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/WnPQsL+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: http://bitly.com/pages/sidebar List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
