I appreciate when someone pays his or her dues. That is how our system is designed. And it is great to see people change their ways and get a second chance.

My question is, I believe, simple. Are there really so few qualified professionals out there that this is the best option? And I know none of the facts beyond this article. Perhaps it really is a great decision. I just know that there are a lot of good people out there with degrees who want to get their foot in the door at a place like this. If someone once had a great position and then pi**ed it away, shouldn't a deserving person who hasn't broken trust be given the opportunity?

More than perhaps any other posting, these comments are mine alone and do not represent my employer or either of the schools where I teach!!
