 Well, even then it might not be evolutionary: in the event that the
particular species concerned actively teaches its young, it might not
indicate a change in the species, but may simply be that one member has
learned and decided to teach.  I'm thinking of the gorillas who know how
to destroy snares - and teach subsequent generations how to destroy them. 
The species hasn't changed because they've learned to destroy snares -
they're merely learning something new and valuable to the tribe.
