I used to interchange the terms more often than I do now. I worked for an
engineering firm that had a very large document management team to serve
their projects - 1 in 25 employees was in DM. They were tasked with getting
engineer drawings through their workflow (both paper and electronic), and
ultimately to the client, with the audit trail to show that it had been
delivered. I was hired to initiate a records management program largely
independent from DM, in an information governance role.
