Alex asked "what ... would be the most useful programming language for a Records professional to be equipped with?"

Alex, my question is a variant on a comment Patrick Cunningham made: why would you WANT to be able to program (other than intellectual curiosity)? You're supposed to be a records MANAGER. Let the programmers program--they're usually better at it than you or I ever will be.

OTOH, it is useful to have a basic understanding of what you can expect--or NOT expect--from custom programming, including delivery times, quality control methods, etc.

And Patrick is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about Excel competence (well, Patrick is always right). ;-)

Fred
