if you do a search of the listserv archives for diversified records you'll
find numerous postings dealing with a fire at CRC in Pennsylvania which
resulted in two companies (First Union Trust and ExxonMobil) suing for the
loss of the records.

the key thing to remember is that the plaintiffs award was based upon what
it would take to recreate the records. the value for each box varied. For
ExxonMobil I believe some boxes were valued in the 5 figure range.

The plaintiff's attorneys gave a presentation at the 2003 ARMA
International Conference in Boston
