Judge rules in favor of Osage News in open records suit
PAWHUSKA, Okla. – For now at least, Osage News reporters count as people
under their tribe’s sunshine laws.

“It is the opinion of this court that I believe the Osage News does meet
the definition of a business entity of the Osage Nation,” Osage associate
judge Lee Stout said Wednesday, Aug. 14. “It is therefore a ‘person’ as
defined by the Open Records Act and therefore capable of making open
records requests.”
