Commissioners' email approvals of spending may conflict with state open
meetings law - Douglas County Sentinel: Local News
Through an open records request by the Douglas County Sentinel for the
emails of commissioners, the practice of emailed approval of purchase
orders by emails was discovered. County ordinance requires one
commissioners approval on expenditures between $10,000 and $25,000. On
purchases of more than $25,000, three commissioners must give approval. The
practice is to provide checks and balances and to be a safeguard, Douglas
County Administrator Eric Linton said.
