AC2013: Only a few days remain to register at early bird rate !
Organised jointly by the International Council on Archives and the archives of the Kingdom of Belgium, the first Annual Conference of ICA will take place on 23 and 24th November 2013 in Brussels.
More than 50 archival specialists from around the globe will come together to debate the theme 'Accountability, Transparency and Access to Information' throughout the conference. There will be translation into English, French and Spanish!

On the 23 November, José Alonso, Director of the Programme at the World Wide Web Foundation, pioneer in the domain of Open Data and responsible for the first plan for the Programme on Open Data for the Web Foundation, will talk about his work on the impact of the 'Open Data ' movement: "The open data movement holds out the promise of improving transparency, accountability, citizen participation and economic opportunity... Reviewing an approach to act on six dimensions of open data (political, legal, organizational, technical, social and economic) to focus the release of data on usefulness and not quantity, this presentation will review what open data meant, mean and will probably mean as a tool to improve governance systems and to build more inclusive societies."
