Following on Thom's post, you might find this helpful as well...
It's our "Records Management Best Practices Guide" and it
spotlights "Accountability" as one of the 7 key steps to establishing a
comprehensive and compliant program; more specifically, it calls for awareness
of records and information at every level with senior-level support to help
ensure buy-in and program success.
To wit: "Establish an enterprise-wide RIM program Steering Committee
consisting of eight to ten people, composed of a designated records manager
and representation from legal, IT, compliance, tax, human resources, risk
management and key business units to be responsible for oversight of the RIM
program, high-level management and strategic insight."
