So, instead of Friday Musings, how about a practical exercise. Let's list 
all of the reasons that records & information should be destroyed after 
its retention period has expired. I'll start:

1. Not destroying records according to schedule negates the "normal 
business process" protection of your RIM program.
2. Not destroying records according to schedule makes discovery costs 
higher than they should be. 
3. If you tell a judge you've destroyed certain records, then it is found 
that they have not been destroyed, you are suspected of purposely 
concealing them.
4. Not destroying records according to schedule puts you at risk because 
outdated and superseded information may be confused with current, accurate 
information.
5. Not destroying records according to schedule ...
