After having spent the previous 3 weeks or so furloughed I had a lot of time to ponder various topics on my plate. The one that I seemed to wrestle with more than others, such as why I shot the lowest golf score I have in my 20+ years of playing golf, or why my sprinkler system seems to miss one area of my yard or how to organize my office/craft room, was why is records management sooo important but considered such a menial task? Granted, I have a PhD and did a post doc in archiving so it is a passion of mine, but with respect to the actual handling, managing, conserving and preserving of records for some of our major programs within the government the process is snarfed at like it is Ebola or the plaque! What is the Continental Congress had this attitude when they drafted the Declaration of Independence?

I know, sad that I'm thinking about this topic when I'm furloughed but I was also studying for my CRM so the two went hand in hand!!!!
