Join colleagues in the records management, archives, and library fields
from throughout the United States and Canada at the eighth annual Best
Practices Exchange Conference November 13-15 in Salt Lake City.

To assure full participation in this year’s event, register by November 1.

Conference highlights include the opening address by Robert Bennett,
former U.S. Senator from Utah and current head of the Bennett Group
International, who will share insights about advocacy for the needs of
archives and libraries with those who hold the purse strings. Milt Shefter,
a member of the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences and co-author of The Digital Dilemma: Strategic
Issues in Archiving and Assessing Digital Motion Picture Materials, is the
keynote speaker. Following the keynote address, the Sundance Institute will
screen a festival film entitled “These Amazing Shadows.” Mr. Shefter will
also conduct a seminar for independent filmmakers, students, and instructor
on Friday.

A full slate of activities is planned (see the schedule at
http://archives.utah.gov/BPE-2013-schedule-long-descriptions.pdf). To
register for the conference, go to http://www.bpexchange.org/. Conference
data is mirrored on the Utah State Archives website
(http://archives.utah.gov/bpe-registration2.html), due to periodic technical
difficulties with the main site. Registration costs $175 for the full
conference. If you would like to attend only Friday's filmmaker’s seminar,
the cost is $75. Students will be admitted to the seminar for $25.

Lodging is available at the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown
(http://www.radisson.com/saltlakecity/BPE), site of the conference.
