Peggy asked " I would expand on that by requesting that those of you who were able to attend the conference share with us some of your positive experiences which could be useful for those of us who may need to sell our employers on ARMA 2014.......Having never been to an ARMA conference myself I would welcome any specific examples of "value" that I could use to enforce my position with my employer."

I have attended most of the ARMA conferences since 1998 and my greatest benefits have changed somewhat over the years due to where I am in my career. For example, the first few years I attended, most of my benefit came from the actual sessions. Later, the greatest benefit came from the CRM experiences and workshops because I was preparing for the CRM exam. Now, my greatest benefits are from the networking and the knowledge gained in the expo. Specific examples are the industry roundtable discussions. I am in the utilities industry. The roundtable meeting allows RIM professionals from various utilities to get together and hold an open discussion about their issues. It is the most beneficial part of the conference for me. Nobody can help you better than a person that works in a very similar environment with very similar issues or concerns. This meeting has proved to be so successful that our utility group now holds monthly conference calls so that we can continue discussing th!
ese topics.

Another specific benefit to me is the expo. Talking to vendors is the primary indicator of industry trends and issues. For example, there were many vendors there this year related to cloud storage. We are working on issues here related to cloud storage. Although, I am not ready to buy a product (if ever), I certainly am interested to see what our options are.

Personally, I thought this year's conference was one of the best ARMA conferences that I have attended.
