I have always had a love of books and was even a library aide for 2 years when I was in high school but I sort of feel into being a Records Manager... the Law Department was being formed for our Company after a Spin-off about 16 years ago and I happened to have had a couple Records Management courses in college so our HR department told the GC about me and after experiencing my first interview panel, they hired me and I have been a Records Manager since... Incidentally, they wanted someone with a Master degree in Library Science but none of those candidates wanted to start the law library and developing a Company Records Retention Program from the ground up for the pay that was being offered so they took a chance on me even though I had only an Associate Degree. There were times that I thought I had made a serious error in career paths since it is a challenging field to say the very least but it has been a good fit for my talents. Btw - I went on to get my BS degree in Business and am now taking classes in an MLIS program at SJSU so I suppose I have finally decided to stay in the field. LOL

Best Regards,

Did you evolve into record and information management or was this career something you knew you wanted to do? When did you first have that epiphany?
