IN this article, Dean Gonsowski, global head of information governance at Recommind, comments, "It is this overreliance on employee-based governance that is giving organizations a false sense of security. While it's positive that organizations recognize the need for information governance, many are still not taking the requisite steps to truly govern their information in a proactive manner. In fact, many are still in the dark about governance and don't have a full sense of the data deluge they are currently facing.

I just don't see how you can eliminate the owner's influence in managing records. Certainly there are activities records and IT can do to make it simplier for the owner, but it concerns me that we constantly here the mantra from techies "that since the record owner, even though trained won't do it, therefore we (IT) must."

Does this insistence on the elimination of the record owner bother anyone else?
