The challenges of information security in the healthcare sector - The

For an industry that is highly regulated, it is frustrating that security
breaches related to loss of patient and staff information occurs so
frequently within healthcare and social care. Many organisations are
unwitting offenders and not all the security breaches are technology
related.

On closer examination, not following proper processes, inappropriate and
ineffective risk management and monitoring of third party suppliers and a
lack of participation in information governance staff training are major
contributing factors.
