Book Review: "Writing on the Wall" by Tom Standage - WSJ.com Mr. Standage, who is digital editor of the Economist, rejects the simple dichotomy between what are usually dubbed old media and new media. Instead he posits a distinction between "really old" media, from 51 B.C. to 1833; old media, which began when Benjamin Day, harnessing the power of the steam printing press, launched the cheap, ad-heavy and aggressively touted New York Sun; and new media, which dawned in 1993 with the release of the first popular Web browser. He argues that new media and really old media are very much alike; the 160-year reign of old media was an anomaly. http://on.wsj.com/18gwhue Source: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB20001424052702304213904579093741463752708 See if people are clicking on this link: http://on.wsj.com/18gwhue+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: http://bitly.com/pages/sidebar -- Peter Kurilecz CRM CA IGP [log in to unmask] Dallas, Texas Save our in-boxes! http://emailcharter.org http://twitter.com/RAINbyte http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAINbyte/ http://paper.li/RAINbyte/rainbyte http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/archives/ http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/records-management/ http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterakurilecz Information not relevant for my reply has been deleted to reduce the electronic footprint and to save the sanity of digest subscribers List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
