“National Archives Records Management Oversight and
Inspection Program” Presented

Program:Steve and Cindy will describe NARA’s oversight and
inspection program and the processes that are used to examine a Federal
agency’s records management program, track compliance, and identify records
management gaps as well as best practices. They will discuss the objectives of
the oversight program and what NARA wants to achieve by conducting the
inspections and reviews of agency records management program. The educational
content of this session relating to records inspection methodology and
identifying best practices can also be applied to the non-government sector
organizations’ records programs as well.

Speakers:
Steve Adams, CRM/NS, MLIS, MA
Steve is a Senior Records Analyst with
NARA. He is a member of Nuclear Information and Records Management
Association (NIRMA) and currently serving as Vice President. As a Senior
Records Analyst, Steve provides records management consulting and training to
federal agencies assisting them in developing and improving their records
management programs, appraising their archival records and developing and
managing electronic records programs. He works closely with the many
federal agencies including DOD, DOE, and the NRC on issues related to records
and information management. Prior to NARA, Steve was a Project Manager
with Armstrong Data Services managing the records services for EPA’s Region 6
in Dallas and was the Manger of Records Services for the Texas State Library
and Archives Commission. Steve has over 23 years of records management
experience in providing technical assistance, training and managing records
centers, active file rooms, and electronic records management systems.
Cindy C. Smolovik, CA, CRM, MA
Cindy has over 20 years experience in archives and records
management. She is a past-President of the Academy of Certified Archivists
(ACA). Her current position is the Supervisor/Manager for the NARA Office of
Records Management Oversight. Prior to that, Cindy was Senior Records Analyst
for the NARA-Southwest Region in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Senior Archivist.
Prior to NARA, Cindy was the City Archivist for the Dallas, Texas, an Archivist
for the Dallas Public Library, and the Archivist for the Dallas Jewish
Archives. She has been a member of the ACA since 1989 and a member of the
ICRM since 2002. Cindy has served in a variety of leadership roles for
ACA, the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA), and NAGARA. She has
received Distinguished Service Awards from ACA and SSA.

in celebrating the giving season by collecting hats, gloves, and warm items of
clothing to be donated to a local charity. Please remember to contribute.

or Vegetable Lasagna, Chef's Vegetable, Chef's dessert and
non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available.
