Hello,

There seems to be two schools of thought:
Those that use content and functional classifications, treat emails just like all other records. Emails are classified (either by humans or machine) and assigned a retention period and when the time is up, emails are destroyed.Another group, have selected a time period to retain all emails ( 3 or 5 years) and when the time is up, emails are destroyed regardless of content.
My question is to the second group. How did you decide on what time period to use and how did you rationalize it?

Please answer on line or off line
