This is a funny topic considering most non-records people think we all work in a sort of prison environment serving a virtual life sentence. We perform functions and tasks that most people consider boring, mind-numbing, and mundane. We often work in windowless, secure rooms with restricted access and usually not that many visitors. Our locations are often remote and off the beaten path in the "dungeon" level of most facilities.

I had someone tell me it must be tough working in the dungeon all the time. I said we have the best collection of artwork on our walls in the entire organization and we have control of our heating and cooling unlike most large work areas. I also told that particular scientist that our work environment wasn't that bad considering he works all day every day in a lab full of toxic compounds.

Aside from dangers from violent inmates (although I have known some fairly hostile records folks too), most records professionals would probably be able to tolerate the prison environment fairly well!
