Program:
Come break in the New Year with ARMA Metro Maryland’s January 15, 2014, dinner meeting
and presentation “Drawing Parallels between Records Management and
Privacy Programs,” with Nancy O. Hunn, GAO Records Officer and
Deputy Chief Privacy Officer at the Government Accountability Office (GAO). 
Ms. Hunn will discuss the commonalities and synergies between the two programs
and why pairing them makes sense for a successful RIM program. Program
parallels around championship, legal and regulatory foundations, lifecycle
management, systems design and development, audit, compliance and risk, change
management, best practices, and credentialing will also be examined.
 
Speaker:  Ms. Hunn serves as the Deputy Chief Privacy
Officer and Records Officer for the Government Accountability Office
(GAO).  As Director, Records and Privacy, Ms. Hunn directs all aspects of
the GAO records management and privacy programs.  In collaboration with
her Privacy Team colleagues, she established the first-ever privacy program for
the Agency comprising an order, rule, incident response handling directive,
privacy compliance documentation (consisting of Privacy Threshold Analyses
(PTAs) and Privacy Impact Analyses (PIAs), privacy website, and new mandatory
privacy training for all GAO employees.
 
Nancy directs all aspects of physical and electronic records
operations, including paper and electronic dispositions from the GAO
enterprise-wide repository.   She operationalized internal records
disposition for physical and electronic records, emails, business systems
outside of the ECM system, and intranet pages for the Agency and strategizes on
data remediation for orphaned records around the Agency.  Nancy and her
staff have hosted over 50-plus federal agencies at GAO to discuss the GAO
records management program and the electronic records implementation in her
agency.  
 
Post-Holiday Donations:  The Metro
Maryland ARMA Chapter will conclude its holiday collection of hats, gloves, and
warm items of clothing to be donated to a local charity.  Please remember
to contribute.

buffet of various Chinese dishes (always a broad selection) and non-alcoholic
