*Event Description*
Professionals with skills in working with business processes are in a great
position. Organisations everywhere are making serious efforts to improve or
transform their processes, and they need help! That’s true for commercial,
government, and not-for-profit enterprises, of all sizes. Why? Because
organisations must understand *what *they do, and *how *they do it, if they
are to improve in a sustainable way. Studying business processes reveals
what an organisation *really *does (or *should *do) to deliver value, how
it does it *now*, and how it *will *do it in future.

Highlights include:

   - What a business process really is, why they are so often
   misidentified, and the consequences;
   - How to make the need for process improvement compelling yet blame-free;
   - Why bottom-up techniques for process discovery are usually more
   effective than top-down ones;
   - “Flow first, detail later” - the basics of “human-oriented” process
   mapping;
   - Stakeholder and enabler-based methods for ensuring the new process
   isn’t worse than the old one.
