Legal Seminar hosted by SCIE ARMA
Wednesday, February 19th

Legal Issues in Records Management

Have you been served with a subpoena? Are you looking for more information
on the legal aspects of Records & Information Management? Join the SCIE
ARMA Chapter at our Legal Seminar where Attorneys John Isaza, FAI and Alon
Israely discuss evolving legal issues facing RIM professionals and programs
including: Litigation Holds, Subpoena Process, E-discovery and more.

This legal workshop will offer a step by step approach designed to help
participants recognize when an organization should preserve records (both
paper and electronic) relating to government investigations or litigation.
Participants will study factual scenarios taken from known cases and interact
with each other and the presenters to work through the litigation hold
process. Participants will learn to analyze trigger events and take a
systematic approach to investigating, issuing the legal hold, identifying and
preserving evidence. State of the art technology will be discussed throughout.

Learning Objectives
• Identify common events that may require an organization to suspend
its normal records retention policy and take steps to preserve evidence
• Implement a systematic business process to investigate records
relevant to the event and identify custodians
• Plan the building blocks needed to implement an effective litigation hold
• Learn about state of the art tools, including cloud-based solutions
• Take away practical advice to help their organizations implement legally
defensible litigation holds

Interactive Presentation
Please be sure to bring your mobile device, laptop or tablet to participate in a
real time simulation of a legal hold.
