The 116th Modern Archives Institute will be held in Washington, DC, from
June 2- 13, 2014. This two-week course, offered by the National Archives
in cooperation with the Library of Congress, provides an introduction to
archival principles, functions, and special topics. Participants usually
have limited archival experience and represent a wide variety of archival
repositories, large and small, public and private.

The Modern Archives Institute is the oldest archival training in this
country, having begun in 1945. The Institute offers a unique chance to
receive training in archives from NARA and Library of Congress staff
members, each of whom presents information and insights gained over the
course of years of dealing with the topic at hand. Included are lectures,
discussions, workshops, a full day of activities at the Library of
Congress, and tours of various units of the National Archives and Records
Administration.

The fee is $775. This includes publications and instructional materials.
Transportation, room, and board are not included. For further information
or to access the enrollment form, see
http://www.archives.gov/preservation/modern-archives-institute/.
