Josh asked:

"I am rolling out our RM program here this fiscal year conducting departmental training cycles, at the conclusion of the training cycles I have a clean-up week scheduled for each group. I was wondering if the group has any best practices or lessons learned from conducting a clean-up event that anyone would like to share."

Is this a test? Sorry, couldn't help that one. My organization conducts a biennial program called Clean Sweep. The two-day event is designed for Team Members to clean up their cubicles and common areas and recycle paper that is no longer needed. I wouldn't necessarily use an entire week for the cleanup. For departments I think a dedicated day is fine because our 2-day event for the entire company is more than enough. I think coupling the training with the cleanup is a good idea. Be sure to advertise for it as much as possible to get the word out. In past years, I would "bribe" Team Members to participate by conducting a raffle at the end. That will work if you have the budget for it. Lastly, for each department, be sure to have a Records Coordinator assigned who can help support you during the training and cleanup and who can assist with communication along the way.

I hope this helps and please feel free to contact me directly if you have additional questions.

Thanks, Steve
