>Mine does.  They caught the person who stole some of my checks from my purse by checking the signature against the signature card.  They were alerted by the fact that the person claimed they had forgotten to bring a photo I.D. when asked for one.  Whether the banks check or not, the signature still plays a legal role on a check.

My bank also caught a forger in a similar episode.  But that was 30 years ago.  I wonder if my current signature (scribble) bears much resemblance to the one on file at the bank.  I agree about the legal role of ink signatures, but there are holes in the logic.
