Responding to this:

"I would like to know who was queried to come up with the responses such as
data hygiene, business intelligence, machine learning when asked about
information governance."

I know it may seem obscure at first but actually these can be pieces in the
total IG picture.

Since data governance a/k/a data hygiene is a subset of IT governance, and
IT governance is a subset of information governance, yes, "data hygiene" can
be a part of an IG program, one that focuses on data governance.

What is data governance? And how does it differ from IG? Data governance is
about getting clean, reliable data, and a single instance of it. It involves
data cleansing (or 'data scrubbing') to strip out corrupted, inaccurate, or
extraneous data, and also de-duplication processes to eliminate redundant
occurrences of data. Master Data Management (MDM) software facilitates
getting to this "single version of the truth."

With good data comes valid insights when applying business analytics and
business intelligence (BI) software. BI software can "learn" to make better
decisions using neural technology which in some forms is referred to as
artificial intelligence (AI), and 'machine learning' is the term used where
software can learn from patterns in data to make decisions.

Also, 'machine learning' is essentially what predictive coding software
uses, as, in an e-discovery scenario, it is fed a sample set of documents
and humans provide feedback to help the software 'learn' to find which
documents may be responsive in legal proceedings. The software gets better
and better at finding the right documents by analyzing the data patterns in
the full-text versions of the content of e-documents, as well as metadata
fields.

So all three of those seemingly obscure references actually do have some basis.

RE: The poster who commented that there were 2 versions of the IG Reference
Model -- yes, it was updated in the past 2 years to include "Privacy &
Security" as a key impact area (added to RIM, Legal, IT, and Business). The
current diagram is here:
