"This is only the tip of the iceberg... The Feds are doing a horrible job with electronic records in general and email specifically. They don't have staff to manage it, policies are weak at Agency level, volume is horrendous and no one accepts responsibility."

"The Federal mandate came with no funding for staff, software, training of systems. The deadlines were RIDICULOUSLY short and completely impossible to attain."

"This whole "ARO and SRO and mandatory training" thing is a farce, because people keep shifting in and out of Agencies and the only 'training' they get are NARA certificate courses... Which give you nothing to help resolve issues the size and scope they're facing."

"And this email 'system of records' NARA is pushing (Capstone) is another joke waiting to blow up on them... It essentially designed for Sr. Staff, and saying 'keep everything forever', when the guidance they need to give is ONLY KEEP RECORDS and if necessary by regulation, keep those forever. But it offers no assistance for staff below that level."

How is this specific to Federal agencies-isn't it a fair description of MOST ORGANISATIONS, public-sector and private-sector; for-profit and not-for-profit; large, medium and small?

Best regards,

Fred
