Benjaminson, who translated documents from Japanese to English for Toyota
amid legal probes over the recalls, later worked for the plaintiffs
attorneys in the litigation. She has provided internal Toyota documents to
various news organizations, including The National Law Journal's affiliate
publication Corporate Counsel, and is writing a book about the recalls.

After she began posting documents on her blog this year, Toyota moved for
sanctions, insisting her actions violated the protective order, which she
signed in 2012 while working for plaintiffs' translation services vendor
Technovate Inc. During that time she obtained 46 documents. Months earlier,
she had received 42 additional documents while working for a different
plaintiffs' vendor, American Language Services.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
