When thinking about all of the main components related to information
governance and why information professionals should start using the title
of Information Governance Officer or adding IG into their resume, the
salary differential became top of mind.

Let's take a look at the graph below to investigate the average salaries
for our standard roles in the information/records sector. For the mid-level
professional located in moderate cost-of living cities throughout the
United States, the following are median salaries taken from job
compensation websites such as Glassdoor and CareerBuilder:

   - Archivist ~ $47,345
   - Librarian ~ $55,370
   - Records Manager ~ $90,000
   - Information Governance Officer ~$118,500

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
