the curve can be good or it can be bad. in freshman chemistry (college)
with over 200 students the professor used the curve to establish the grade,
but he actually posted the curve for all to see. basically a bar chart
showing how many made what numerical score on the test. for examply there
might be 3 at 99, 4 at 95 then the next would be 2 at 88. therefore the
first 7 got an A it was a thing of beauty sceintifically applied . you
could see the actual breaks between each grade. but then I had a German
language class with about 20 people in it, the curve was used in it. I
scored a 90 on one exam and that was a C on the curve. a poorly applied use
of the curve.
