The Chief Executive of the National Archives Jeff James has responded to
suggestions by Google's Vint Cerf that in the future our old digital
records "may not be readable".

He described managing digital information as "a challenge" but explained
"we've developed a digital records infrastructure... it's a very clever
technology solution but based on some fundamental principles of
understanding what you've got and keeping it safe."

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.

umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
