In recent years, Information Governance (IG) has emerged as a new field of
asset management to help organizations assess risks and costs associated
with all types of data, information and records. The ARMA Madison Chapter is
pleased to sponsor a seminar designed to bring together practitioners from a
range of disciplines and domains to explore IG principles, tools and
strategies.

The Sedona Conference® Commentary on Information Governance defines
IG as an “interdisciplinary approach to satisfying information
compliance requirements and managing information risks while optimizing
information value.” Sound challenging? It is difficult due to explosive growth
in digital data, complex webs of compliance, privacy,
security and legal requirements, and unstoppable technology cycles.

Seminar presentations and exercises will define and explore IG facets and
founding principles. Case studies and lessons learned will be used to
demonstrate how to raise the profile of information assets and how to
integrate IG principles into operating systems, organizational culture,
business processes and technologies. Seminar attendees will learn ways to
help their own firms, agencies or organizations assess and leverage the value
of information while proactively managing risks and requirements.

The afternoon session features a screening of the award-winning film, “The
Decade of Discovery,” the story of a government attorney who set out to find
a better way to search millions of White House e-mails. A Q&A session with a
distinguished panel will follow. Jason R. Baron, featured in the film, will
participate via Skype.

Please follow this link http://armamadison.org/seminar/ to learn more and to
register for the seminar.
