Technology in the Information Management Arena (Keynote)
Patrick Cunningham, FAI
Technology plays a vital role in the control of information and records in all phases of their lifecycle. As we enter the Third Millennium, the "Information Age", technology is prevalent in our daily lives. The premise of this presentation is that a records and information manager must have an understanding of the role of technology in the organization and the utility of technology in the lifecycle of information. The presentation will be a call to action -- a call to understand and learn where technology will lead in the coming years. The role of the records and information manager is changing, perhaps radically, and the records and information manager must break through the "cardboard ceiling" and stretch his or her abilities to understand and adequately utilize technology, or face being left behind.
