Dear Colleagues,

The Society of California Archivists invites proposals for individual presentations as part of our first ever mini conference in beautiful Balboa Park at the San Diego Air and Space Museum. What is a mini conference? A mini conference is a bite sized version of a full conference with a day of sessions and tours of Balboa Park’s museums and cultural arts institutions. The mini conference will take place on Friday, August 28th, with a pre-conference workshop on ArchivesSpace. The theme is digital initiatives in the archives and the program committee seeks proposals that tie in with the theme.

Proposal Due Date: May 19, 2015

Proposals are welcome from archivists, librarians, faculty, researchers, developers, practitioners, students, and other interested parties; we are especially interested in presentations that address:

 *   Beyond CONTENTdm…what else is out there? Are you using another digital dissemination system and are interested in talking about it? Perhaps Omeka, Collective Access, CollectionSpace, Open Exhibits, Pachyderm, Islandora, or Biblioboard?
 *   Are you doing something interesting with digital exhibitions? Teaching with digital collections or digital humanities? Student projects?
 *   Have you processed born digital collections and are interested in talking about the process?
 *   Are you using a digital preservation system like Preservica,  Archivematica, or Durcloud?
 *   Are you using ArchivesSpace and are interested in talking about the transition process?
 *   Do you have an idea or project that you are working on that is interesting but not quite a 15 or 20 minute presentation? Submit it for our lightning round session!

Presentation Proposals

Proposals for presentations should include: the name, title, affiliation, and email address of the presenter, whether or not you've presented on the topic at another conference, and an abstract of the 15-20 minute presentation or lighting round talk including keywords (<500 words). Email the proposal to Katie Richardson, program committee chair, at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Please submit the text of the proposal in the body of the email. The proposal due date is Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
