I did a google search in my area and came up with about 4 commercial
options. I contacted them all (checked their web sites) and got their
price list and the media types they converted. Then I chose one and sent
them a tape to digitize. I had some tapes I really didn't care about it,
it was one I used to see how they did. It was fine. I was very very
surprised by the differences in prices. Also, you need to consider how
the digital content will be used, in order to determine in what form you
want it. That may affect the price.

Also, you can consider if there is a college or university near you and
they have the equipment to digitize. I've done that too.
