William, I never said I drive a big SUV.  And I'm not a manager because I like control, I'm a manager because my superiors believe my ideas for our RM department will be good for the county.

Bill, very true. 

Machines can be more precise, process a lot of data very quickly, and communicate that data to each other through a network.  But people can make quick judgments in one situation based on subtle nuances and past experiences with many other different situations that machines can't.  

Like anything else, it comes down to balance.  And in my opinion, a self-driving car gives too much control to technology and takes too much control away from the human component.  Personally, I'd be happy driving a car that has those sensors on the front, back, and sides.
