I'm right in the beginning stages of this too.  It's important to have a
policy on how to store your records in order to keep from moving your
"mess" from your shared drives to the cloud.  We are implementing a policy
that states collaboration sites (Google, shared drives, and SharePoint)
will have a retention of X years.  If the information needs to be retained
for a longer period, it must be declared a record and entered into our
ERM.  In order to assist us in combing through the jungle we have, we are
using an analytical tool from IBM.  There are several tools available that
can assist you, but we have an ELA with them so we use their tools.

I expect we will cut out 1/3 - 1/2 of our stuff due to ROT.  (Redundancy,
Obsolete or Transitory information)
