David Rosenthal, of Stanford & developer of the LOCKSS digital preservation system, has warned against the blockchain-hype & suggests it's a "brittle" technology (when it fails, the failure is sudden/catastrophic rather than gradual) which isn't suitable for long-term preservation systems.
