Hi all, Chris' post reminded me of something else when reusing boxes from offsite storage (if someone else didn't already bring this up).
This probably is a no-brainer, but if you reuse a box from offsite storage, make sure to do one of two things - 1) update your database and/or the vendor's database to reflect new contents in a specific box (if you are reusing the vendor's barcode) or 2) make sure to "perm out" the box if you are going to use a new vendor barcode (same goes if you are going to destroy the box from offsite - "perm" it out). This seems pretty obvious, but I have seen numerous examples where organizations didn't know any better or the volume of business was so hectic that "perming out" fell through the cracks. Consequently, I have also seen examples where monthly charges for "checked out" boxes (ones that no longer existed) added up over months and years to very significant costs:(
Have a great Wednesday!
