Hi All,

Some of you may already be aware that we already populate and host the
Knowledge Management Body of Knowledge <http://km.if4it.com> (KMBOK
<http://km.if4it.com> ).

We are considering also publishing Records Management resources (collected
and maintained from contributions by various communities) into a common body
of knowledge that can be accessed by those interested in accessing key RM
information, from a single location.

This presents two options that we¡¦d like your opinions on:

1. Option #1: Create a totally new and separate Records Management Body of
Knowledge (RMBOK).
> * The site would have the same look and feel as the KMBOK
> <http://km.if4it.com> (possibly different color schemes, logos, and images).
> * This implies that the content is strong enough and unique enough to warrant
> standing on its own.
> * Since Records Management has such a strong tie and overlap with areas of
> Data, Information, and Knowledge Management, there may need to be redundant
> entries to maintain in a separate RMBOK that would also exist in the KMBOK.
> * This may lead to an inventory of different domain-specific BOKs, over time.
2. Option #2: Merge all Records Management resources into the KMBOK
> * This means that Records Management content will be co-mingled with other
> content areas, such as Data, Information, and Knowledge Management.
> * Sometimes, it may not be perfectly clear on how something is classified
> and/or segmented to be RM-specific.

For reference, in a previous post, I inquired about topics for such a
Records Management knowledge repository. Examples categories for the BOK
include but are not limited to:

* RM Regulations (an inventory of pointers to all relevant government agency
RM-related regulations? globally, regionally, locally, etc.)
* RM Bodies of Knowledge (e.g. other external repositories that can be
pointed to)
* RM Learning Resources
* RM Standards
* RM Blogs
* RM Best Practices
* RM Capabilities
* RM Templates
* RM Software Tools
* RM Communities of Practice (e.g. this listserv, other listservs, forums,
etc.)
* RM Complimentary Disciplines
* RM Glossary / Vocabulary
* RM Service Providers

Your feedback is very much appreciated.

My Best,

Frank
