The recorder is one of five elected department head positions in Aitkin County. Recorder Mick Moriarty was elected in 2014 and took office in 2015. Each term is four years. Recorder’s Office staff also includes Deputy Recorder Tara Snyder, and Chief Deputy Recorder Roxy Hoppe. The Recorder’s Office receives real property documents for filing. It also has the responsibility to maintain an index to the reproductions of all previously filed documents. The office keeps birth and death records on individuals who were born or died in the county.
